I was inspired to build something like this from seeing some of David Beattie's work (owner of Slot Mods) on his slot car tracks. I believe his tracks start at $70,000 and he has sold them to people like Jay Leno.
I always wanted to build a more scale like track for 1/28th scale R/C Mini-Z cars as these cars are very detailed, scale like models, unlike larger 1/8 or 1/10 scale R/C cars. Mini-Z owners will appreciate having a scale track to run their scale cars on. I've always liked building train sets, and this will be a similar type of project but on a larger scale (larger than my n-scale train set that is)... and this will be fun to actually use and race on, not just watch like trains.
If this project turns out well, I will most likely start racing again in my basement with a group of people here in Atlanta. If the track is well received, this could play into my bigger goal of eventually opening a hobby shop which could be centered around this type of racing.
